The contents of this website are under review following the formation of a new HM Government. Current information may be found at www.gonetwork.gos.gov.uk.

Future Jobs Fund

The Government has created a £1 billion Future Jobs Fund to which local authorities and other organisations can bid to create around 150,000 new jobs. This is a new approach to create jobs and provide hope for young people and jobseekers in deprived communities.

The jobs created will:

  •  Be real jobs – paying at least national minimum wage, for at least 25 hours a week, and lasting at least six months;
  • Be additional jobs - in other words that they would not have happened without the Future Jobs Fund;
  • Be suitable for long-term unemployed young people;
  • Be of benefit to the local community

Government Office North West (GONW) will manage each scheduled bidding round on behalf of the Regional Assessment Board.  The Board will assess each bid before making their recommendations (subject to the Regional Minister’s agreement) for funding to the National Assessment Board.

Members of the Regional Assessment Board are from GONW, the Department for Work and Pensions, Learning Skills Council, Regional Development Agency and Trades Union Congress.
