One of the Government’s main priorities in rural policy is economic
and social regeneration, through supporting enterprise across rural England
and targeting more resources at areas of greatest need.
The aims are to reduce the gap in productivity between the least well
performing rural areas and the national average, and to improve the access
to services for people in rural areas.
