Regional Economic Performance: the National Picture

Government Offices (GO) work with regional partners to reduce the gap in economic growth rates between regions. With their regional partners, the GOs provided input to the Government’s Spending Review. These set out plans for government spending. ‘Regional Funding Allocation’ documents were jointly prepared by the GO, Regional Development Agency and regional partners in each English region.

GOs support delivery against Public Service Agreements (PSAs) The key economic PSA is PSA 7 “Improve the economic performance of all English regions and reduce the gap in
economic growth rates between regions”

BIS chair a Regional Economic Performance steering group, which monitors activity and delivery against this PSA target.
