Sport England
Sport England is a DCMS sponsored body, delivering the Government's sporting objectives and distributing both Lottery and Government funds to sport. Working through nine regional offices, and in tandem with their regional sports boards, Sport England shares best practice, sets standards, builds partnerships and promotes the benefits of sport, which include healthier living, social inclusion and crime prevention.
English Institute of Sport
The English Institute of Sport is designed to provide top class training and support for talented sportspeople. It has regional centres which provide facilities and support for athletes across the country.
UK Sport
UK Sport is the organisation that provides support for world-class performers. As well as distributing Lottery funding, UK sport also extends the UK’s profile and influence on the international sporting stage, providing an anti-doping programme and creating a framework for attracting and running the world's major sporting events.
Game Plan
‘Game Plan’ - published in January 2003 - provides a strategy for delivering the Government's sport and physical activity objectives.
London 2012 Olympic Bid
London 2012 Olympic Bid - London’s bid for the Olympic Games in 2012 is currently in progress. The importance of the bid nationwide is highlighted at regional level and Government Offices are supporting the national bid team.
