The Regional Research and
Analysis Programme (RRAP) is part of the Home Office RDS Crime and Policing
Group’s Research and Analysis Unit. Researchers from this
programme have a presence in all Government Offices in England and in the
Welsh Assembly Government.
The North West Regional
Research and Analysis team is part of the Northern cluster which also
includes researchers from Yorkshire and Humber and the North East
regions.
The Regional Research and
Analysis Programme have 4 main strands of work:
1. Supporting
performance monitoring of Home Office Public Service Agreements
(PSA23 Making Communities Safer and PSA 25 Reduce the Harm Caused by
Alcohol and Drugs) and Local Area Agreements.
2. Building
analytical capacity – work focuses on supporting the
professional development of researchers and analysts in the region.
Examples include the provision of training, an analyst network and a
quarterly newsletter.
3. Research
and evaluation – work includes commissioning, undertaking
and promoting the use of social research within the region and
nationally.
4. Briefing
and Advice – work includes contributing to briefings and
advising Home Office and Government Office colleagues with a view to
informing regional and national decision making.
