Acquistive Crime

Acquisitive crime is committed for material gain, such as where items are stolen or acquired fraudulently. This includes business and retail crime, shoplifting, and other theft of property. Serious acquisitive crime, such as domestic burglary, robbery and vehicle crime can have a significant impact on people and communities.

Government Office for the North West works closely with the Home Office, Ministry of Justice and regional partners to deliver the Government’s Public Service Agreements (PSAs) and PSA 23 includes as a priority action “Continue to make progress on serious acquisitive crime by focusing on priorities in local areas and the most harmful offenders – particularly drug misusing offendersâ€.

We work with, and provide support to, our partners on acquisitive crime issues across the Region, and we oversee the prolific and priority offender scheme and the drugs intervention programme which are contributing to the reduction in acquisitive crime across the North West.

The Home Office website contains information on crime in England and Wales in 2008/09
