The aim of Integrated Offender Management (IOM) is to help local partners
jointly to:
Reduce Crime, Reduce Re-offending, Increase Public Confidence, Address
Social Exclusion and drive organisational performance delivery improvement
– recognising that all these aims are of course interconnected
It is a Strategic Umbrella that builds on Prolific and other Priority
Offender (PPO) Strategy, Drug Intervention Programmes, Multi Agency
Public Protection Arrangements, Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences
etc which aims to align the work of criminal justice agencies and their
partners more effectively to work with targeted groups of offenders.
IOM is the direction of travel nationally and the agenda continues to move
apace in the North West with the roll out of IOM across an increasing
number of areas.
A Government policy
statement has been recently published outlining the case for working
together to manage offenders and reduce crime, the principles of IOM and
“taking IOM forward in your area”
The Role of GONW Community Safety
GONW will be looking to share the learning over the coming months and
provide support, challenge and guidance to external partners. We also offer
“bespoke” walkthroughs to partnerships using a range of key
stakeholders including the Home Office, Youth Justice Board, National
Treatment Agency and the Office for Criminal Justice Reform.
