Home Secretary's guidance
On Tuesday, 3rd June 2008, the Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith,
launched guidance for local partners to assist with the
understanding and effective delivery of the Prevent Strategy. This
guidance, together with a document setting out the delivery
strategy, can be accessed through the related links below.
Local partnerships are crucial to the strategy and its
fundamental objective, to stop people becoming or supporting
violent extremists. It is therefore essential to its success that
the right people have access to the new guidance.
Government Office North West's role
As Whitehall in Region, GONW play a key facilitation role in
supporting the delivery of the Prevent Strategy through local
authorities and their partners. Its key challenge is to bring
together the work of central government departments and provide
clarity of delivery to local partners.
