The Children’s Fund was set up to prevent children and their families suffering the consequences of poverty. Regional Sure Start and Children's Fund teams located in the nine Government Offices work with Children’s Fund partnerships. The teams report on this work to the Supporting Children, Young People and Families Group in the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

There will be an emphasis on supporting projects that specialise in early
intervention and prevention, and which are having a notable impact on
school attendance, as well as projects that are improving the skills and
emotional wellbeing of parents to help them better support their children,
and improving relationships between families and professionals.
