Childrens Fund - Children playing Steel drums at Over Hall School

Children's Fund

Part of the work we do within the Government Office for the North West involves addressing the difficulties faced by children in the region as they try to realise their potential.

The Children’s Fund was set up to prevent children and their families suffering the consequences of poverty. Regional Sure Start and Children's Fund teams located in the nine Government Offices work with Children’s Fund partnerships. The teams report on this work to the Supporting Children, Young People and Families Group in the Department for Children, Schools and Families. More information on the national picture

There will be an emphasis on supporting projects that specialise in early intervention and prevention, and which are having a notable impact on school attendance, as well as projects that are improving the skills and emotional wellbeing of parents to help them better support their children, and improving relationships between families and professionals.

The Children’s Fund Evaluation website provides access to examples of good practice and services on the ground.
