North West Community Champion wins prestigious award for work with Young People
A Police Officer who wants to bring children from different faiths together on the sports field has won the prestigious “Community Champions” award. Police Sergeant Umer Khan from Oldham Police, aged 33, started the Sedgley Park Youth Group with just four members last year. Now about 60 young people aged 5-16 take part in regular sporting and educational activities. See news for more.
Draft Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS)
A public consultation on the Proposed Changes to the draft Regional Spatial Strategy for the North West of England was launched on 20 March 2008. The Regional Spatial Strategy is part of the statutory development plan for every local authority in the North West and provides a framework for development and investment over the next fifteen to twenty years.
